Service Opportunity

Troop 201,

St. Luke’s on the Lake Episcopal Church (our sponsoring Organization) has requested we help them out with two different service opportunities.  Ryan Kutz will have sign-up information at the troop meeting on 4/18 and we will also email it out.  Here are the Service needs:

  1. Brush trimming and clean up behind St. Luke’s Church – Saturday 4/22, 9 am – noon.  Bring your gloves, tree loppers, rakes, water bottle, hat, and sunscreen to help cut, trim, and clean up behind the church.  We will remove all of the shrubs, brush, and debris away from the church that has grown up and haul it to a pile at the smoker in the upper parking lot.  If anyone has a wheelbarrow they can bring, that would also be helpful.  We need Adults and Scouts.

  1. Troop Color Guard – Men of St. Luke’s (MOSL) Episcopal Church have requested a Troop 201 Color Guard for their honoring of Church Members who are Veterans.  This event is on Saturday 5/20 at the Church Fellowship Hall.  Color Guard would need to arrive promptly at 6:15 pm and is invited to stay for the whole event, including the meal.  They plan to share photos of the veterans in their younger/service years and I’m sure it would be enjoyable.  If you are a member of St. Luke’s on the Lake, that would be a preference to have you on the Color Guard.   Please keep in mind we have a Troop campout planned for that weekend if you want to volunteer.

Both of these opportunities are an excellent way to help out St. Luke’s Church.  They help Troop 201 tremendously with their sponsorship, and I encourage you to please consider volunteering.

Summer Camp 2017

Hi Troop 201,

If you have not already registered for our Summer Camp at Spanish Peaks Colorado, it’s not too late. In addition earning a lot of merit badges, this is a great opportunity for scouts (and absolutely recently crossed over scouts!) and parents to enjoy the great outdoors while taking a break from the Texas summer heat.
Below is a list of scouts and parents that have already registered along with the remaining base camp balance due for each registered attendee. Please review your information for accuracy.
The Troop must have all final base camp payments by next Friday, March 31st at the latest (checks should be made out to Troop 201). You can give me your check at the PLC meeting next week (Tues. March 28th) or it can be mailed to:
Dave Bendorf
1012 Lakewood Hills Terrace
Austin, TX 78732

Alternatively, you can drop off at Dave’s house – he will have a marked box on the front porch – Community gate code is 1140 if you want to drive/drop off.
Dave is our Troop Treasurer and a direct mail/delivery to him is most efficient.  You can also deliver directly to him at most Troop meetings.

Note that the base camp fee excludes travel and travel meals to and from camp. The cost for travel and travel meals will be calculated and assessed in a couple of months, once we coordinate and identify all of the drivers.
The cost for base camp participation is $260 for scouts and $150 for adults. For scouts and adults registered for High Adventure, the cost is $335. *Note that Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch does not offer refunds. So if fully paid but cannot attend camp, you would need to find a replacement and we would have adjust the fees internally within our Troop.
